A Tale of Springtime

A Tale of Springtime

Presented by Cleveland Institute of Art and The Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque at Online/Virtual Space

France | 1990 | Éric Rohmer

In the first of Éric Rohmer’s film cycle “Tales of the Four Seasons,” a young high school teacher, Jeanne, is invited to crash at the home of a piano student, Natasha, because Natasha’s dad spends many nights away with his young girlfriend Eve (whom Natasha despises). Jeanne accepts the invitation but soon suspects that she is being set up by Natasha to replace Eve in her father’s life. A quintessential Rohmeresque account of romantic intrigue, ambiguous motivations, and ambivalent behavior. New restoration! Cleveland revival premiere. 108 min.
