Band of Outsiders

Band of Outsiders

Presented by Cleveland Institute of Art and The Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque at Online/Virtual Space

France | 1964 | Jean-Luc Godard

This lyrical tragicomedy has been called “perhaps Godard’s most delicately charming film” (Pauline Kael) and “a Godard film for people who don’t much care for Godard” (Amy Taubin). Three reckless young people (Anna Karina, Sami Frey, Claude Brasseur) plot to plunder a suburban villa, only to have their plans go awry during execution. The “Madison” dance number and the race through the Louvre are classic scenes. Music by Michel Legrand. The movie’s French title inspired the name of Quentin Tarantino’s production company, A Band Apart.  Subtitles. 95 min.
