Spend the day with intrepid Natural Areasguides at two of the Museum’s most stunning and diverse Ashtabula County preserves. At Cathedral Woods, we will stroll throughthe majestic sugar maples, eastern hemlocks, and tulip trees while looking for the rare striped maple and its beautiful bark patterns. Early amphibian denizens, aquatic invertebrates, and woodland bird species will be some of our target discoveries.
At the North Kingsville Sand Barrens, the rare fossil dune ridge habitat is home to many rare species, both animals and plants. We will survey the wetland seeps, mature tree forests, and open barren meadows for early-spring species.
