This project is an experimentation of technology and the current pandemic, seeking to better understanding how the shift from in-person to virtual interactions has impacted our social behaviors and to identify the groups of people most impacted by it
In the last year our collective reality has shifted from an in-person, hands-on, interactive environment to that of a virtual one, reliant on screen-based media for our day-to-day interactions with colleagues, family, friends, and neighbors. This transition has altered our social behaviors, where face-to-face interactions feel limited, to the point that seeing someone in person feels unusual. This project seeks to research and explore this altered reality through modified computer components, utilizing sensors and simple mechanisms that will activate monitors throughout the exhibition space.
This project will be presented at the Sculpture Center Gallery in Cleveland, OH. The show is scheduled to run from March 26th to May 8th and is open to the public during regular business hours and by appointment.
