Gustav Stickley: American Craftsman

Presented by Cleveland Institute of Art and The Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque at Online/Virtual Space

United States | 2020 | Herb Stratford

The rise, fall, and resurrection of the father of the American Arts and Crafts movement is chronicled in this new film. Gustav Stickley (1858-1942) designed and manufactured furniture, published The Craftsman magazine, and founded Craftsman Farms—a progenitor of the farm-to-table movement.  The movie limns Stickley’s life via interviews, archival materials, and a close examination of his most iconic works. Cleveland premiere. 68 min.
