Chagrin Valley Little Theatre presents a staged-for-streaming theatrical performance of “The War of the Worlds” radio script, based on the H.G. Wells novel, and made famous by Orson Welles on CBS radio in 1938.
In 1938 Orson Welles and his team took to the CBS Radio airwaves with a performance of Howard E. Koch’s “The War of the Worlds” script, based on the H.G. Wells novel. It became a legendary broadcast for using a ‘faux newscast’ style that tricked some listeners into thinking aliens had actually invaded. It also secured Welles’ place as a master of theatre.
Chagrin Valley Little Theatre stages a radio-style reading of this original script, complete with ‘live sound effects’, on the River Street Playhouse stage. The performance will be presented on to audiences via the CVLT website.
