Description: Reparations have long been a topic of discussion—and controversy—in the United States, amplified in recent years by the Black Lives Matter movement and the health inequities affecting Black communities during the current pandemic. You might have heard the word “reparations,” but do you fully understand what reparations are?
Join us on Saturday, February 27 at noon for a discussion with Angelique Gates and Erin McCardle of Reparations Now Cleveland to learn more about reparations, why they are necessary, and how you can contribute to support your community.
Presenter Bio: Angelique Gates is a consultant based in Northeast, Ohio specializing in diversity, inclusion, and other education initiatives. Getting their start in 2016, they have led various organizing projects including creating a local group that focused on anti-racism efforts. Angelique works with Reparations Now Cleveland (www.reparationsnowcleveland.com) as their Community Accountability Partner and is also the Co-Founder of the art space, Current (currentcleveland.org) located at 78th Street Creative Studios.
Erin McCardle (all pronouns) is a reparationist and community organizer born and raised in Cleveland. Anything they know about community care and liberation was learned from the leadership of radical Black femmes.

Parking is available in the lot behind the museum. Cyclists may park their bikes at racks near the main entrance. Drivers may park facing the garage. A designated handicapped parking space is located near the ADA ramp and entrance. If the lot is full, visitors may park on the north side of South Park Blvd (opposite the museum).
