This one-day Zoom workshop will explore the hand printing method of creating watercolor-based 11” x 15” monotype prints. Attendees will create complex imagery using Crayola markers, writing on freezer or wax paper to create a printing matrix. Printmaking paper will then be soaked in water, blotted, and hand pressed on top of the prepared matrix to create an impressed image. Quick guides to color mixing, color theory, mark making, and image composition will be discussed. Attendees will walk away with a couple of prints – or more as time allows.

Supplies needed:

Table-top surface
Crayola water-based markers- Any colors, variety of tip thickness
Rag- printmaking paper – Stonehenge, Rives BFK, Arches, Etc.
Clean towel for blotting paper
Barren or wooden spoon or glass jar (for applying printing pressure)
Freezer paper or wax paper
Painters tape, or masking tape
Paint Brushes
Plastic bin (for soaking paper) – Optional
