Blizzard of Souls

Blizzard of Souls

Presented by Cleveland Institute of Art and The Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque at Online/Virtual Space

Latvia | 2019 | Dzintars Dreibergs

Latvia’s official submission for this year’s Oscar for Best Int’l Feature Film is also the most-watched Latvian film since the restoration of that country’s independence. Based on a semi-autobiographical novel by Aleksandrs Grīns that was banned in the Soviet Union for 60 years, this lavishly mounted historical drama follows the exploits of a teen farm boy who serves as a rifleman in a Latvian battalion of the Imperial Russian Army during WWI. “A more realistic 1917.” –Hollywood Reporter. Cleveland premiere. Subtitles. 123 min.

Blizzard of Souls, a Cinematheque streaming exclusive, can be viewed online from 1/8 thru at least 2/18 via the link below. Doing so supports the Cinematheque.
