Museum Methods for Home Collections: Going Digital

at Online/Virtual Space

In this session of Museum Methods for Home Collections: Going Digital, learn techniques used by museum professionals to digitize and preserve your photos and documents. Not only will digitizing your collection allow you to effortlessly share copies of your old family photos, but it is also easier to start and maintain a digital collection than you may imagine.

This webinar is designed to teach non-museum staff basic skills and techniques employed by museums and archives to preserve historical items. In this webinar, you will learn what terms like “digitization”, “born-digital”, and “digital preservation” mean and why it is important to digitally preserve your at-home collection. The webinar will include a demonstration of how to use a scanner or camera to digitize your physical items. By the end of the webinar, you will be able to start and maintain your own digital collection so that you can continue to enjoy it for years to come.
