Virtual Workshop: Museum Methods for Home Collections

November 21, 2020 12-1pm

Tune in to our Facebook page to learn techniques that museum curators use to protect and preserve historical artifacts. Apply those skills to caring for family heirlooms, photos, antique furniture, and more. These tips will help you provide museum-quality care for your personal artifacts that will allow you to preserve and enjoy them for years to come.

This webinar is designed to teach non-museum staff basic skills and techniques employed by museums and archives to preserve historical artifacts. Attendees will learn about environmental hazards, archival storage, tips on caring for and cleaning a variety of materials, and observe live demonstrations of some of these techniques. The goal is to make museum preservation accessible to the general public so that they can use these techniques on personal collections.
