Irish Family History Workshops- A Three Part Series

If you’re keeping close to home these days, what better time to start or resume work on your family tree!? If your Irish family came to Cleveland, join us for one or more Irish family history research sessions conducted by IAAS Executive Director Margaret Lynch . Many tips and examples will be Cleveland-specific but are applicable to other localities. The sessions will be held on four consecutive Sundays in November. Each will last an hour.
FREE Introductory Overview Irish Family History Research: How to Get Started” November 1, 2020 at 2:00pm
Three-part Workshop Series: Diving into Documents $100 for all 3 sessions
Who’s Afraid of Vital Statistics: Finding free access to birth, marriage, and death records, along with death notices and cemetery records. November 8th at 2:00pm
Beyond the Census: Supplementing US Census records with Cleveland City Directories and County Property and Tax Records. November 15 at 2:00 pm
Back to the Old Country: Exploring free sources for Irish records such as Griffiths Valuation, Irish Civil Records, 1901 and 1911 Census records. November 22 at 2:00 pm
Irish American Archives Society is a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit that preserves and presents information about the history of the Irish in Cleveland. IAAS Executive Director Margaret Lynch has developed and presented talks, displays, articles, and walking tours about the history of the Irish in Cleveland and family history research. She manages a research internship at John Carroll University that is tracking and documenting 3000+ immigrants who left northwest Mayo in 1883-1884 on an assisted immigration initiative.
Zoom login will be sent via email 2 days before the free introduction and the first workshop session. A second email will be sent one hour before the start of each session to accommodate last minute registrations.
