The giant “green roof” of Great Lakes Science Center’s parking garage will feature some extra STEM activities over Labor Day weekend, including rockets, chemistry and a fruit flying summer finale!

Join us outside from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 5 and Monday, September 7 and from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, September 6 for two rocketry activities. Experiment with paper rockets and test their flight capabilities in an aerodynamic engineering challenge using air pressure, and use a chemical reaction to launch a film canister in a Chemistry and Rockets activity.

Watch in wonder as we explore forces and motion to move, lift and launch objects through the air, sometimes with explosive results, in a special outdoor Big Science Show at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Then the big finale is Monday only at 1:15 p.m. with a chemical reaction that will send the fruit flying when we blow up a watermelon!
