Pulp Painting (at the Morgan)
Sat, July 25th – Sun, July 26th:
Explore Western papermaking using various fibers, as well as how to create imagery through experimentation with various pulp painting processes. Discussions, demonstrations, and studio time will include pulp preparation, pigmentation, and pulp painting techniques such as pouring, spraying, spooning, and blow-outs using various stencil materials. Pressing and drying your papers will conclude each session.

Monoprint (at Zygote)
Sat, August 1:
Use your papers from this workshop at Zygote the following weekend during their Monoprinting workshop with Lisa Schonberg on June 22. Using clear, acrylic printing plates, oil-based inks and your previously made papers and pulp paintings, stencils and soft textural materials, students will further develop, fuse and enhance your imagery and concepts.

​About the Instructors:

Michaelle Marschall has been on the Eastern and Western paper production staff at The Morgan since 2016. She has taught art to all ages in the Cleveland area since 2002, after completing her BFA at Lake Erie Collage. Michaelle is a printmaker and has been a resident artist with Zygote Press in Cleveland for over a decade exhibiting her work.

Lisa Schonberg explores the world of printmaking by combining a variety of processes including relief, intaglio, monoprinting and screen-printing. She received her MFA in Printmaking from Kent Sate University and her BFA from Ohio University. She recently retired from teaching as an adjunct professor of printmaking at Baldwin Wallace University, Notre Dame College and has taught periodically in the Cleveland Institute of Art/Continuing Ed. Dept. Her 40-year career includes a variety of experiences from teaching in public and private schools to participating in artists’ residencies and internships. Lisa is a resident artist at Zygote Press in Cleveland where she produces her prints, teaches and volunteers. Her work is in the collections of the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Southwest General Hospital, MetroHealth Center, Hahn Loeser, LLP, and the Cuyahoga County Headquarters in downtown Cleveland.
