Learn how to create beautiful sheets of washi with kozo grown in the Morgan’s backyard, and become acquainted with traditional and nontraditional processes of making Japanese paper.
Japanese papermaking is an ancient art over 1300 years old. In this two-day workshop, you will learn how to create beautiful sheets of washi, and you will be introduced to traditional and nontraditional processes of making Japanese paper from start to finish. Using Kozo grown in the Morgan’s garden, you will learn how to scrape the bark and cook and beat the fibers to form strong, translucent sheets of paper. Take your paper home, or bring it back for one of our other Eastern technique workshops scheduled throughout the season.
