ABOUT RE:SOUND

Re:Sound is an annual 4-day new and experimental music festival presented by Cleveland Uncommon Sound Project (CUSP). Traversing the city, concerts take place in some of Cleveland’s most intimate spaces and bring together pioneering local, regional, and national artists, strengthening the new music community in Cleveland and demonstrating the city’s unique qualities that make it an ideal place for new art to flourish.

CUSP strives to give a voice to adventurous creators and performing artists of diverse backgrounds. In an effort to minimize the gender gap in music composition, we recently launched CoLab, which provides professional opportunities and mentorship to young female and non-binary composers in the Northeast Ohio region. This year’s participants are Mariana Stockman and Lucia Morello.

DESDEMONA
Anthony Green – Collide-oscope II (2016)
Finola Merivale – Do You Hear Me Now? (2019)
Anthony R. Green describes his piece as “a journey of colors and textures.” Written in 2016, the piece combines distinct string textures to create the musical equivalent of a kaleidoscope. Desdemona will present Green’s trio alongside Do You Hear Me Now?, a string trio of “swirling, unrelenting, manic energy” by NY-based composer Finola Merivale that grapples with sexism in the world of new music.
