Hosted by WKYC Channel 3 Chief Meteorologist Betsy Kling and featuring female science professionals and students from across the region, Women in Science Day is your chance to explore unique STEM opportunities for women and girls while learning about the challenges they may face in pursuing their passion for science.

Who can be a scientist? What career possibilities exist for women and girls in STEM fields? We’ll explore these questions and more at Cleveland’s official celebration of International Women and Girls in Science Day.

When Science Meets Art: Innovation and Exploration
Amber Anderson, M.A., Registrar CMNH
Throughout history, innovations in science and art have gone hand in hand. Using examples of artworks in the CMNH Fine Arts collection, this lecture will explore how science has informed the artist’s content and technique.

11:15–11:45AM | PLANETARIUM SHOW
Take a tour of the cosmos with a female astronomer as your guide in this special live show in the Shafran Planetarium. Tickets are required.

11:45AM–12:45PM | COFFEE, COOKIES & CONVERSATIONS
Meet with Scientists from the Museum, Case Western Reserve University’s WISER, and NASA.

1–2:15PM | CAREER CONVERSATIONS
Betsy Kling, Cleveland’s first female chief meteorologist, will lead a Q&A session with science professionals to talk about how they first discovered the curiosity for science and how they continue to pursue their passions.

2:30–3PM | PLANETARIUM SHOW
