Please note that the 3/19 & 3/20 events has been postponed, however the film can be streamed online to support the Cinematheque.
The new film from the director of Saint Laurent and Nocturama is a brainy, stylish, seductive blend of horror film, teen coming-of-age story, and colonialist drama. It tells two parallel stories that eventually connect in meaningful ways. Story #1: in 1962 Haiti, a man is brought back from the dead only to be sent to the living hell of the sugarcane fields. Story #2: in a prestigious all-girls boarding school outside present-day Paris, a Haitian teen confesses a family secret to her new friends, setting off a chain of weird events. “Not undead but bracingly alive.” –Screen Daily. Cleveland premiere. Subtitles. DCP. 103 min.
Though our theatrical screenings on 3/19 & 20 have been canceled (the film will be rescheduled after we reopen), Zombi Child can be watched online thru 4/30 via the link below. Doing so supports the Cinematheque. Online viewing $12.
