NewBridge’s 2020 CLE|LEAD class is hosting their second exhibition of the year: “Self-Identity Through Portraiture”
The exhibition serves as a culminating event for students participating in the CLE|LEAD program. CLE|LEAD is an arts-infused Social Emotional Learning (SEL) program offered at NewBridge’s facility in Mid-Town Cleveland. The program uses the arts – ceramics, graphic design, drawing/painting, and photography, as an instructional practice to engage in a comprehensive SEL curriculum committed to developing the resilience and protective factors often required for success in life. For each module, students are taken through a personally reflective journey of themselves, which helps them to see how they show up in the world, including how others view and see them. This new perspective begins to take shape through art, and as the student curate their own pieces, they identify top works to bring forth to the exhibition. Each auction piece is supported by an artist statement, which tells the story behind each. All pieces are for sale, of which 805 go directly to the student.
