We Heart Tech

at Great Lakes Science Center

All you need is love…and science!  Great Lakes Science Center’s We Heart Tech event is filled with sweet programs, workshops you’ll definitely fall for, and special Big Science Shows that will get your heart racing!  There are plenty of special free activities for We Heart Tech from Friday, February 14 through Monday, February 17.

Discover the chemistry that is near and dear to your heart during our BASF Genetic Investigation Workshop.  Make DNA necklaces, explore the human genome, and learn how science and technology make a perfect pair in the biomedical industry.

Makey Makey Mario demonstrates how video game controllers work by exploring the engineering and circuitry behind these popular devices.  Master the “wonders of wind” by designing, building, and testing different materials and shapes of turbine blades to generate energy. Be transported to the surface of Mars and control robots as you explore the Martian surface. Learn about the “wonders of water” and the incredible work being done in your own backyard by the Northeastern Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD).

Fall in love with spectacular feats of physics and the curiosities of chemistry in a new Under the Big Top Science Show, along with the Lift Off Big Science Show featuring explosively fun demonstrations that will take you on a journey through rockets and rocket science.

We Heart Tech is also the perfect opportunity to check out the Science Center’s special temporary exhibition, Curiosity Carnival before its final day on February 17! Have you ever been in awe while watching a balancing act? Or, frustrated after trying to win a prize at a midway game? All the sights and sounds of the carnival, from the spectacles to the midway games, are based on science. We’ve combined the excitement and vibrancy of a classic carnival atmosphere with fun and engaging STEM principles to bring families an entirely new experience!
