This presentation will chronicle Black baseball throughout the US and Negro League baseball specifically in Cleveland up to the inclusion of African American and Black Latino players on the Cleveland Indians rosters from 1947 to 1960.  The Cleveland Indians led the way in the American League with players of color.  In fact, during 1952 the team led the major leagues in the number of players with 6.

In addition, Cleveland was a key economic center as well as being central to several significant civil rights movement events during this period.

This program is free and open to the public thanks to the support of Cuyahoga Arts and Culture.
