Battle of the Teal program presents "The Franz Reader" by Dr. Yerin Kim

Audience of this concert will hear “art songs” known as German Lieder, transformed into virtuosic solo piano music which combines poetry, voice, and accompaniment. Audience will learn and experience how different elements of art can work together to make a complete musical story.
Poems that are directly related and used for the music will be read, and the melodies of each characters in the story will be played. After the audience has heard the story and the melodies, the art song transcribed into solo piano piece will be performed.

Franz Schubert was a master of writing Lieder (art songs) and Franz Liszt was a master of virtuosic transcriptions. The piano pieces that will be played are Schubert”s beautiful art songs transcribed by Franz Liszt into colorful and exciting piano pieces.
