This concert takes a look through a global citizen lens, as we present a dynamic violin and piano duo from Lithuania, performing Vivaldi’s beloved work, the Four Seasons.
Since its beginning nearly 108 years ago, The Music Settlement has heartily welcomed the immigrant community. Our founder, Almeda Adams, recognized that music could be the great connector of children, many of whom did not speak English but had arrived from their homeland with an instrument in tow. Music was their common language. TMS has a long relationship with Cleveland’s Lithuanian community, and we are thrilled to present violinist Viktorija Čepinskienė and pianist Giedrė Špečkauskaitė.
On their American debut tour, Cleveland is most fortunate to have this dynamic classical music duo from Lithuania in town for a day. Top prize winners of numerous competitions, they have been featured as soloists with orchestras in Lithuania and abroad. Viktorija and Giedre will treat us to the Four Seasons (Le quattro stagioni) by Antonio Vivaldi, published to great acclaim in 1725. Arguably Vivaldi’s most famous composition, these four concerti (Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter), are also considered some of the boldest program music written during the Baroque period.
