Learn to Polish Silver Like an Art Conservator

Learn to Polish Silver Like an Art Conservator

Presented by ICA-Art Conservation at ICA-Art Conservation

As the holidays approach, it is the time of year (and for some of us the only time of year) when family silver makes an appearance on the festive table.

For years, you may have been using your great-grandmother’s secret recipe or an over-the-counter silver polish to take the tarnish away.

Come spend an entertaining and educational hour with Michael Belman, ICA’s Head of Objects Conservation. He will provide a demonstration of silver polishing as conservators practice the art, and talk about the care, handling, and storage of silver.

We promise you’ll never look at tarnish the same way again.

There is street parking;  it is sometimes difficult to find so leave yourself some time to park. Although our street address is 2915 Detroit Avenue, the actual entrance to the lab is on the street behind, Church Avenue.  We have a big bluish-gray door that is directly opposite the entrance to the CMA Transformer Station.  Push the buzzer to the right of the door.  We will buzz you in and come down and meet you. If you have any accessibility issues or need an elevator for mobility, please let me know so we can accommodate you.
