Rounded Casebound Book with Curved Front Slipcase workshop:
Casebound binding is a durable classic hardcover structure with universal appeal. You will learn how to sew and round a multiple signature hardcover book, as well as construct a unique, rounded front slipcase for it. You will use German Duo bookcloth to cover the book and beautiful handmade Morgan Conservatory papers for the endsheets. At the end of the workshop, you will go home with an elegant hardcover casebound book and rounded slipcase.
About the instructor:
Jean Beuscher Bartlett is a bookbinder, letterpress printer, designer, and fine artist who received an MFA in Book Arts from University of Alabama. The founder and owner of Bloodroot Press in Anna Arbor, MI, Jean has published and produced a range of limited edition, letterpress printed, illustrated books over the past 30 years. Her work resides in over fifty major collections worldwide including the Victoria and Albert Museum, the New York Public Library, the Dutch Royal Library, and the University of Michigan Special Collections.
