The New York Times says that this debut US museum exhibition from acclaimed Chinese artist Liu Wei is one of this Fall’s exhibitions that will “define the new season.”
Invisible Cities features a tightly curated selection of paintings and sculptures. moCa Cleveland’s presentation of Invisible Cities debuts two new large-scale works that elaborate on the themes and aesthetics of Microworld (2018; pictured above) and Devourment (2019), both currently on view in the Venice Biennale.
Invisible Cities is presented across two institutions—the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland (moCa) and the Cleveland Museum of Art (CMA)—and developed in direct response to both spaces’ architecture. moCa’s presentation of Invisible Cities is on view from September 13, 2019–January 5, 2020. The Cleveland Museum of Art’s presentation of Invisible Cities runs from October 13, 2019–February 9, 2020.
