Close Encounters Season 14: We Too, Part II: Four First Ladies in Music

Presented by Heights Arts at Dunham Tavern

After the success of our first We Too program, our second features four First Ladies in Classical Music: string quartets by the first woman chosen to perform for Abraham Lincoln, the first female composer-in-residence at CIM, the first woman instrumentalist in a major orchestra, plus a brand-new clarinet quintet by a young New York composer, Anna Weesner, recipient of a 2009 Guggenheim Fellowship and a 2008 award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.

Mari Sato, violinist in the Cavani String Quartet for 23 years, will guide us through these selections.

Performers:

Mari Sato (Oberlin Conservatory), Isabel Trautwein (the Cleveland Orchestra), violins, Eric Wong (Cavani Quartet), viola, Paul Kushious (the Cleveland Orchestra), cello, Robert Woolfrey (the Cleveland Orchestra), clarinet
