This one-hour work will premier two original ballets: “The Freedom Remix” & “I’m a Woman: The Story of Gwendolyn Garth”. Join us for a night of celebration, culture, and dance.
This original work, choreographed and directed by Lexy Lattimore, will tell stories of freedom, our fight for justice and personal liberation.
“The Freedom Remix” takes us on a spiritual journey through the history of various justice movements in America. Choreographed to songs of protest, the piece features dancers from Duffy Liturgical Dance Ensemble.
“I’m a Woman: The Story of Gwendolyn Garth” portrays the riveting life journey of Cleveland’s own “Harriet Tubman of the Arts.” Join us as we honor this local hero through dance.
The “Room in the House” residency is sponsored by Cuyahoga Arts & Culture. Both works were developed during this residency at the Karamu House.
