A free ‘Round Midnight showing at Capitol Theatre presented by Gordon Square Arts District and Tri-C JazzFest.
Gordon Square Arts District and Tri-C JazzFest present the screening and discussion of 1986 jazz film ‘Round Midnight.’ Jazz legend, Dexter Gordon, plays the lead role in this fictional film about a troubled saxophonist who rekindles his spirit in Paris. A free performance by Saxophonist Nathan Paul Davis will precede the movie at 5:45 p.m. outside The Capitol Theatre.
Maxine Gordon, the musician’s widow and author of the book (‘Sophisticated Giant: The Life and Legacy of Dexter Gordon’) that this movie is based on, will make a special appearance following the screening for a Q&A session and a book signing. A book will also be raffled off.
