A small pow wow featuring LENAC culture class participants + the Cleveland Native American community
What exactly is a Mini Wacipi??
Wacipi is “pow wow” in the Lakota language (pronounced wa-CHEE-pee). We call this particular pow wow “mini” because most pow wows are weekend-long celebrations. Ours however, is a small (or mini!) day-long showcase of the hard work of our youth, their parents, and LENAC leadership and volunteers!
Over the last several months, LENAC has hosted weekly culture classes where participants practiced dancing, make regalia, learned to bead, make moccasins, or sew ribbon skirts. This Mini Wacipi is a place for our youth to strut their stuff + welcome Greater Cleveland to learn about our culture and engage with our community.
