S.K.I.P. Supporting Kids with an Incarcerated Parent

S.K.I.P. Supporting Kids with an Incarcerated Parent

Presented by P.A.L.S. for Healing at Memorial Jr. High

A therapeutic support group designed to explore issues specific to caregivers and children of an incarcerated parent(s). The group will be held twice a month with youth meeting separately from the caregivers. Caregivers will gain knowledge of their rights as families affected by parental incarceration and there will be incentives available to participants to assist with the financial burden. You will find support and understanding in a positive environment along with learning about various community resources available. Art Therapy support for youth will help them explore issues with other children and teens who understand their struggle. No previous art skills are necessary. Participants will engage in painting, collage, music, movement, writing, and other creative art therapies to express themselves, manage difficult feelings, promote self-esteem, and develop positive coping skills.

P.A.L.S. for Healing is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping those who have suffered trauma and/or loss.
