In partnership with NASA’s Glenn Research Center, Great Lakes Science Center is having a FREE admission day for all youth (ages 2-12).

Energize It! Demonstration
Location: Cleveland Creates Zone, Level 1
11:15 a.m.
Energy is all around us! We’ll explore the ways energy works for us from light and sound to colors and explosions.

The Importance of the Moon: Past, Present, and Future
Jim Green, NASA Chief Scientist
Location: Reinberger Auditorium, Lower Level
1 p.m.
Based on analysis of the Apollo lunar samples, scientists believe that the Moon was formed out of a collision between the Earth with a Mars sized planet named Theia at a very early stage of the development of the solar system. From then on, the Earth and the Moon’s evolution have been intertwined. The Moon has kept the Earth’s rotational axis pointing in the same direction providing a significant level of stability for the Earth’s climate. Today, the Moon holds many fascinating mysteries for scientists to explore. Scientifically there has been a number of stunning advances in lunar science and a realization that going back to the Moon will provide scientists with the opportunity to accomplish transformational science in understanding the origin and evolution of our solar system. NASA’s future plan is to go to the Moon to stay and then on to Mars.

Lift Off Big Science Show
Location: Cleveland Creates Zone, Level 1
2:15 p.m.
Before we launch into space, we need to get off the ground. We use physics and chemistry to launch a variety of rockets around the room.

Picture Yourself in Space
Pose for the camera and take home a souvenir photo of yourself with space as your backdrop!
