The Art of the Short Story: Beginning Fiction Writing

A four-session introductory short story writing workshop.

Author Annie Proulx (Brokeback Mountain) said, “You should write because you love the shape of stories and sentences and the creation of different words on a page.” In this workshop for emerging fiction writers, we’ll complete writing exercises to help you shape your story, and discuss the elements of fiction, such as point-of-view, plot, setting, character and dialogue. Over the course of four sessions, we’ll write and workshop your story (or story-in-progress) in a creative and supportive environment. Led by novelist, short story author, essayist, screenwriter, playwright, and writing teacher Scott Lax.
