If you could change something undesirable or perilous that you were “born with”—for example, a physical trait or disease predilection—would you do it? Join Dr. Saba Valadkhan of Case Western Reserve University and Dr. Jonathan Smith of the Cleveland Clinic as they discuss genetic editing, in which DNA is inserted, deleted, modified or replaced in the genome of a living organism.

This conversation, moderated by moCa’s Assistant Curator A. Will Brown, springboards from Aleksandra Domanović’s current moCa exhibition, Untitled (In My Feelings) that examines the genetic editing of cattle. Our panelists will discuss their current work with genetic editing tools along with the astonishing technological advances that have arisen recently. They also will talk about the future of this controversial medical technology might hold and the ethical dilemmas that it brings forth.
