Amber N. Ford is a Cleveland-based artist who works primarily in photography. She is best known for her photographic portraits that explore identity and race and often take shape through what they artist calls a “collaborative engagement between photographer and sitter.” Through this collaborative approach the artist presents portraits that are guided by the subject, depicting them as active participants in the shaping of their own image. Ford received her BFA in Photography from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 2016. Her work has been shown in galleries such as The Cleveland Print Room, Zygote Press, Waterloo Arts, Heights Arts, and Zaina Gallery. She was selected as a 2016 Creative Fusion Local Artist and was recently awarded an Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award.
