Community members are invited to celebrate Earth Day and make a difference by volunteering for the annual Doan Brook Spring Stream Sweep, to be held in the Doan Brook gorge and Shaker Parklands on Sunday, April 28.
Litter such as plastic bags, bottles, food wrappers, Styrofoam, and coffee cups wash down storm drains that connect to local streams and rivers – ultimately ending up in Lake Erie, our source of drinking water. Individuals, families and community groups will have the chance to get a little wet, a little dirty, and have a lot of fun pulling trash and debris from the stream corridor or pulling invasive garlic mustard from the surrounding banks.
Volunteers will meet at the corner of Fairhill Road and E. 127th (tent along Lake to Lakes Trail) on Sunday, April 28 at 12:30 pm. Street parking. Gloves and trash bags will be provided, as well as refreshments. Warm clothing and waterproof boots are recommended.
Free admission. Advance registration recommended. Register online at doanbrookpartnership.org or register with Andrew at 216-325-7781 ext. 6783 or klooster@doanbrookpartnership.org
