After 5 full days together at Summer Music Camp, Heights middle school musicians will perform a remarkable finale concert. Selected chamber groups will start the show, followed by the camp choir and then the full camp orchestra. Not to be missed!
Instrumental music students in 5th-8th grade who live in the Cleveland Heights-University Heights school district spend a fun-filled week exploring music with us. Camp is the place for emerging musicians who want to play wonderful music, explore music in many forms, improve, and experience the rewards of sustained effort.
Campers grow, work hard, make new friends, and have fun! A ratio of 1 instructor for every 3 students creates excitement and ensures growth for every camper. Our staff includes school district music educators, professional musicians, and college and high school student mentors. Daniel Heim, director of orchestras at Heights High and Monticello Middle School is the music director and conductor.
It’s a jam-packed week of music exploration during orchestra and chamber group rehearsals, interactive music theory activities, master classes and sectionals, and electives including jazz, chorus, percussion, and ukulele. The week ends with a fantastic Finale Concert for the community.
