Prison Nation Exhibition - Panel Discussion and Idea-building session

Presented by Ohio Prison Arts Connection at Martin Luther King Jr. Library

Join the Ohio Prison Arts Connection for a panel discussion and idea-building session centered around the value of the arts inside and outside prisons, and the practical problems and possibilities for improving access to the arts for justice-involved people in the Cleveland area. If you are part of a prison staff or an arts, re-entry, or community organization, or simply interested in understanding the arts or the justice system better, we encourage you to join us and contribute to the conversation.

The panel features artists and program facilitators who work in a range of mediums and contexts, and will be moderated by Jessie Glover.

Gwendolyn Garth is an artist and activist based in Cleveland. Tyrone Harrison – Teezy – is a Cleveland-based rapper. Eric Gardenhire is an activity therapy administrator at Grafton Correctional, a men’s prison in the Cleveland area. Vivian Stinson recently retired from her position as special assistant to the warden at Dayton Correctional, a women’s facility. Christopher Dum and Bengt George of Kent State University lead the ID-13 Prison Literacy Project, which facilitates writing workshops at Lake Erie Correctional. And Jesse Krimes is a visual artist whose work is featured in the PRISON NATION exhibit made possible by Aperture Foundation.
