The Tongue in Groove monthly poetry music jam hosted by Ray McNiece showcases a featured performer followed by an open mic of poems, songs and stories backed up by the multi-instrumental house band.
On the third Sunday of every month from 6pm til 8:30, Ray McNiece and his Tongue in Groove band (Al Moses on guitar, Nick Marino on Bass, Michelle Clark and Adam Bigsby on percussion and Tim Lachina on harmonic) host a poetry music Jam session. After an opening set by the band, the featured reader/poet/performer takes the stage. Following a short break for book/cd sales, Ray MCs the open mic where poets, prose writers, comedians and song writers add their words to improvised music. The featured performers have included academic poets, slam poets, storytellers, and novelists. The open mic is very supportive of all genres and talents. Come by and sit in with the band. There’s always surprises and wonders in the mix!
