BlueWater Chamber Orchestra presents Opulent Oboe and Scintillating Symphony, a program featuring the works of Beethoven, Foss and Haydn. Tiffany Chang, formerly of Baldwin Wallace University, makes her Blue Water debut as guest conductor, and Principal Oboe Martin Neubert is soloist. Perennially popular Beethoven opens the program as the orchestra performs the Overture to The Creatures of Prometheus. Written in the Neo-Classical style, the Oboe Concerto of Lukas Foss overflows with charming melodies. Symphony No. 103 by Joseph Haydn has earned the nickname “Drumroll” from the unusual long drumroll that opens the piece. One of the composer’s twelve “London” symphonies, it was enthusiastically reviewed at its premiere as “a fine mixture of grandeur and fancy.” Family friendly, the 75 minute concert is played without intermission.
Free admission. A freewill offering will be taken.
