Pianist Edward and his wife Caroline are expected at a party at the house of her affluent and influential uncle. Edward plans to use the opportunity to wow the gathering’s fancy guests with his musical abilities. But the couple engages in a long, lingering argument before the party and it threatens to torpedo their night out. The final part of Becker’s “youth” or “loving couples” trilogy “has the allure of an American screwball comedy but with increased class-consciousness” (Wall Street Journal). “The best of Becker’s comedies.” –Holt Foreign Film Guide.
