Lunch on Fridays: Aimee Lee

Presented by Cleveland Institute of Art at The Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque

Spend a lunch hour learning about the latest in art and design during these Friday lectures. Each lecture features a variety of artists and designers from around the world, including CIA faculty and visiting artists. This event is free and open to the public. Pizza and beverages will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

Aimee Lee has been researching and using hanji—Korean paper—for the past decade. Through images and videos, she will share her journey through the performing arts into the visual arts, and her interests in books, hand papermaking, East Asian textile traditions, and shared ancient techniques that span the globe. Her presentation will be accompanied by material and artwork samples.

Aimee Lee is an artist, papermaker, writer, and the leading hanji researcher and practitioner in North America. Her Fulbright research on Korean paper led to her award-winning book, Hanji Unfurled (The Legacy Press), and the first-ever American hanji studio, located in Cleveland, Ohio. She teaches, lectures, exhibits, and is collected internationally.
