The Barber of Seville, opera by Rossini

The Barber of Seville, opera by Rossini

Presented by Cleveland Opera Theater at Unknown

The hilarious prequel to The Marriage of Figaro has it all:

forbidden love, zany disguises, a gossipy music teacher, and a crafty bride to be. Dr. Bartolo plans to marry the young Rosina who is under his care.  The Count Almaviva has other plans and enlists the help of the wily barber, Figaro, to win Rosina for himself.

The plot thickens when someone calls the police and high comedy ensues.  Don’t miss the sidesplitting action, Rossini’s energetic score, and opera’s most famous aria… “Fi-ga-ro!”

Rossini’s opera remains one of the most frequently performed comic operas in the modern repertoire. Learn more about the production at the Pre-Show Opera-101 lecture.  60 minutes before each performance in Silver Hall at the Maltz Performing Arts Center
