The 1948 Cleveland Indians were one of baseball’s most exciting and colorful teams, surviving a thrilling pennant race and a one-game pennant play-off game to reach and win the World Series in six games. Reflect on the 70th anniversary of that season when we remember the 1948 World Champion Cleveland Indians at noon on Saturday, October 6. Baseball historian Morris Eckhouse will look back at the ups, downs, and ultimate triumph of that team and how we can continue to enjoy that victory today. He will also remember two of the greatest baseball voices of that season: Jack Graney and Tom Manning.
