Time Canvas presents part 3 of ‘Home Not Home’, featuring minimalist works and spoken word/raps with MC. Archie Green.
Time Canvas announces the third installment of their summer concert series ‘Home Not Home’. Throughout the series the ensemble is presenting the musical repertoire of historically displaced people groups. The first two performances were Latin America Baroque and Aires de Sefarad, exploring pre and post colonial music in the Americas and the music of the Sephardic Jews, respectively. The third and final performance is titled ‘Hip-Hop | Minimalism’, and will feature nationally renowned hip-hop MC. and mental health advocate Archie Green. This unique program will meld mid-20th century minimalist works in the vein of Steve Reich, Philip Glass, John Cage, and Pauline Oliveros, with newly composed spoken word and raps, performed by Green. While exploring the historical connection between the minimalist movement and the emergence of hip-hop, the program will explore contemporary themes such as immigration, mental health, and the African-American experience.
