 Artist Statement

Searching for the essence of a person or place is what drives me to paint and has always been both my interest and inspiration. I love the feel of pastels in my hand, the smoothness of charcoal as it glides across the paper, the fluidity of watercolors and the richness of color that oil allows.  I strive to find the beauty and dignity in our turbulent world and try to convey that in my paintings.

Through the use of line, light, transparent color and sometimes dripping paint, I aspire to create a painting with an ethereal mood that draws the viewer into the painting. I have an affinity for light and water because I grew up in Florida, but Cleveland has been my home for over 40 years and I’ve grown to love most of the seasons.

I work at my studio in the ArtCraft building downtown. My work has been shown in many juried and solo exhibitions throughout Ohio including OSU-Mansfield All Ohio Exhibition, “The New Now” at Tri-C East, Ashland University National Exhibition, Solon Center for the Arts, Ursuline College, Lakeland May Show, Cain Park Feinberg Gallery, Beachwood Community Center Art Exhibit, Howson Gallery Judson Park, University Hospitals, South Franklin Circle, Artist Archives of the Western Reserve and The Ohio State Fair Exhibition.  My work has been published in The Academy Graphic Communications Calendar for many years.

My degree is in English Literature from The Ohio State University. My work is in private and corporate collections throughout Ohio, Florida, and Texas.
