Jennifer Kaplan has been creating art for as long as she can remember. She has worked in a variety of mediums, including metal, clay, fiber, glass, acrylic, pencil, gouache, ink and paper. She is inspired by history, Hebrew letter forms, sacred texts, and nature. She strives to create beauty and art out of ancient traditions, allowing texts and symbols to come alive through calligraphy, color, papercuts and design.

Kaplan spent all her years of schooling studying Hebrew and Jewish texts, and continued her studies at the graduate level, focusing on ancient Semitic writing systems and language. She studied Art, Art History and Jewish and Islamic Studies at Washington University in St. Louis, and did her graduate work in Ancient Near Eastern Cultures at University of California, Los Angeles.

She accepts commissions for ketubahs (marriage certificates), custom milestone commemorations and corporate/non profit awards.

Currently, she resides in Cleveland, Ohio with her husband Dave, daughters Jillian and Lydia, and dog, Watson.
