ABREPASO’s mission is to use flamenco to: connect people in a way language cannot; inspire people to chase their goals fearlessly; encourage a presence of mind, body, and spirit; and through our artistry spark creativity in all who engage with our work. We present high-caliber flamenco performances, both traditional and contemporary. We value telling stories relevant to today’s world, sharing our performers’ stories rather than imitating others or pretending to be Spanish. The diversity of our performers’ experiences and their well-rounded knowledge of flamenco allow us to create new entry points into and new pathways within flamenco. We offer educational programs for people of all ages and backgrounds. Our ¡Spain Alive! program brings Spanish culture to K-12 settings via flamenco music, movement, and culture. We also offer general classes to adults and children across Cleveland.

Odyssey & Oddities is a vintage inspired handmade statement jewelry line made for today’s fashionable trendsetters, even if they’re on a budget.  Odyssey was born in 2015, out of a yearning to create unique yet affordable jewelry that I wasn’t seeing anywhere. My designs are very inspired by the 1930s, 1970s, drag, witchcraft and the occult; but are made with current color and jewelry trends in mind. Odyssey designs include kitschy bolo ties, colorful chunky wood bead necklaces, gemstone earrings and necklaces, vintage bead earrings, fringe and tassel earrings, feather earrings, and witchy chokers. I think about how my customers will wear their pieces, and what outfits they’ll wear them with. I have a bachelor’s degree in fashion design and have been making jewelry since middle school, Odyssey & Oddities puts together all of my skills.  I have developed a loyal customer following in the last 4 years, and do lots of shows all around Ohio.

  • Omo Iroko Drum and Dance Society
Omo Iroko Drum and Dance Society
Association/Club/Group;  Dance;  Educational;  History/Heritage;  Kids & Family;  Music;  Theatre;  Traditional Arts;  Visual Arts
Omo Iroko Drum and Dance Society …”Iroko” is the name of a tall, strong, towering tree with deep soil roots possessing one of the strongest types of wood found. In the village where it grows, it is believed to be a sacred tree that houses the spirits of the ancestors. Oftentimes, the villagers would place gifts and offerings at the foot of the tree for atonement. We adapted the name “Iroko” as a metaphor to describe what it is we have received…a legacy of an oral cultural, artistic expression that would be lost in this age of information and technology had not someone passed the knowledge to us. The larger “Iroko Drum and Dance Society” was the original umbrella and foundational root. Today, we too adapt the name and the mission to preserve and “pass down” the tradition to others as an expression of the ancestral wisdom in a universal art, multidisciplinary, educational and interactive art in the form of drum and dance interpretations of traditional arts around the world.
