Unidos por el Arte: Support for Artists Grant
Julia de Burgos Cultural Arts Center (JDBCAC) is thrilled to announce its fifth year of receiving Support for Artists grants through Cuyahoga Arts & Culture and Assembly for the Arts. The Unidos por el Arte: Support for Artists grant will provide $5,000 of project-based funding for ten Cuyahoga artists.

The Unidos por el Arte: Support for Artists grant focuses on uniting artists to celebrate the diversity of Cleveland and Cuyahoga County’s Latino community. All projects will culminate in an art showcase, with grantee’s presenting their work at Julia de Burgos Cultural Arts Center’s Hispanic-Latino Heritage Month celebration on September 14th, 2024.

This grant is open to artists from a variety of disciplines, including but not limited to drawing, painting, sculpting, photography, technology, dance, theater, performance, music, history, writing, and culture. Early career, emerging artists, and those without formal training are encouraged to apply. Grantee’s will have access to JDBCAC’s resources, art center, and house as a form of project support.

Application Requirements

Applications will only be received via our google form application portal (tinyurl.com/jdbcacSFA2024) and will not be accepted after the marked deadline.

  • Grantee must be a Cuyahoga County resident
  • Grantee must be registered in JDBCAC’s Unidos por el Arte database (https://juliadeburgos.org/form%3A-unidos-por-el-arte)
  • Project for the Unidos por el Arte: Support for Artists grant must not receive any additional funding from the other Support for Artists grants from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture and Assembly for the Arts
  • Artist Statement (approximately 150 to 200 words)
  • Project Description (approximately 250 to 700 words)
  • Budget
  • Work Examples* (PDF)

*For Work Examples, please prepare a PDF package of up to eight (8) work samples.

Timeline for 2024

March 1 - Application opens

March 30 - Application closes

Mid-April - Grantees are selected & contacted to begin projects

May to August - Monthly progress check-ins between grantee and grant Project Manager

September 1 to 8 - On-site installation of projects

September 14 - Hispanic-Latino Heritage Month celebration & public viewing of completed projects. Artists must be present during the event

September 14 to October 15 - Project stays on display for the entirety of Hispanic-Latino Heritage Month

We encourage artists who understand the essence of the Julia de Burgos Cultural Arts Center and the diverse community it serves to apply. The center plays a crucial role in celebrating and preserving the rich cultural tapestry of the region, and we are seeking artists whose work reflects an understanding and appreciation for this mission.
