Founded in 1912, The Cleveland Music School Settlement (dba The Music Settlement (TMS)) was built on the ideals of inclusiveness and opportunity for all using music as the common language. TMS has grown from its foundation of music instruction, to also offering early childhood education and music therapy services. In 2018, TMS expanded its mission with the construction of a second campus in the near west side Ohio City neighborhood. Through our three Centers –Music, Early Childhood, and Music Therapy – and our Bop Stop performance venue, TMS caters to a diverse clientele that spans a lifetime.

The Chair for the Center for Music reports to the President & CEO with management responsibilities for the Center for Music’s programs and operations. This senior staff member represents the institution to students, parents, funders, community leaders, music educators, arts organizations, institutions of higher education, volunteers, and the public at large. The Chair will implement and execute programs, policies, and strategy with the support and supervision of the President & CEO; develop long and short-term goals and performance measures; and determine budgetary priorities and ensure that they are met. Responsibilities include day-to-day operations as well as ensuring the long-term sustainability of the Center for Music.

In addition to providing strong and visible leadership of the day-to-day operations of all aspects for the Center for Music, the Chair will work with committed faculty, staff and board members to create a vision and strategy for The Music Settlement’s successful future.
